International Women's Colloquium hands down YUMMY

Earlier this month women from all over the world joined together in Monrovia, Liberia to discuss 5 main objectives at the International Colloquium on Women's Empowerment, Leadership, Development, International Peace and Security.  March 7-8, 2009 They discussed Empowering Women to be more affective leaders in by linking them with their international peers, To achieve Millennium Goal #3: Promote gender equality and Empower Women, Launch the Angie Brooks International Center on Women's Empowerment, Leadership Development, International Peace and Security in Liberia, Implement UN Security Council Resolution 1325 which calls for broad participation of Women in Peace building and Post conflict reconstruction, Demonstrate clear gender dimensions of climate change, environment protection and sustainable development.
I am so proud to see these things happen.  To see these kind of topics being discussed.  It is very important for everyone to know that Women are coming together to find solutions to some of the atrocities happening now like War, Destruction of Earth and Natural Resources, Protecting children, ourselves and our families. I am very grateful for the work these women are doing and continue to do.  President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia and President Tarja Halonen of Finland hosted the Colloquium.

AMAZING IS YUMMY

Hate what you will but I am Kanye down...and since 808's and Heartbreaks are fitting for the winter '08 segment enjoy my favorite track right now. Yezzy and Jezzy+++=+++

Another Amazing is Enrica Marshall, beautiful print maker in Laguna Beach by way of Tanzania. I discovered her at the Folk Art Museum on Museum Mile in Los Angeles.  Her subject matter and stylized techniques give me a total calmness and feeling of safety.  I'm so obsessed with her paintings right now. She reminds me a little of Alex Katz, I just love what they do with colors. Peep the pieces below and enjoy.

BLK JKS R YUMMY

I have been secretly obsessed with these cats since my girl Choms put me
on. Than I saw them on the cover of Fader and that was it, I was in love.
South Africa is really heating up the social and music scene with groups
like BLK JKS. I've haven't heard a sound like theirs from anyone out now.
And the yummy'st part is that they sound as good as they look.

As an added bonus here is a pic of Sophie Okonedo. She makes the Yummy list
because with out effort she oozes talent. This portrait is from a series
on Black British Actors taken by photographer Donald MacLellan and funded by
the UK Film Council. Another Yummy Chiwetel Ejiofor is featured in the
series as well.
