SOSK YUMMY

Kenna has impressed me again, this time with his humanitarian efforts.  The singer has started a foundation to bring awareness to the clean water plight happening around the world, its called Summit on the Summit.  On January 7, 2010 he will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro along with other celebrity and activist friends.  If you go to the site you can follow all of the climbers to the top of the mountain.  You can also make a donation and provide clean drinking water to people who need it around the globe, I made mine!  The UN Foundation is overseeing the efforts to get the water to the people who need it.

We Were Once A Fairytale YUMMY

I have friends who are serious lovers of Spike Jonze.  Some of the things Spike creates are scary spooky and turn off my senses but some of the things he creates are little masterpieces of beauty, its always one or the other with me.  So to my surprise when I saw this video being tweeted I went from one to the other as the course of the short film played to its end.  By the time it had gotten to 4:36 it was entirely to hard for me to keep watching it, I felt embarrassed and sad for him like really really sad (because well I don't think this plot or acting is a stretch for  him at all...real life? maybe?)

But than something happened he had fulfilled all of his carnal desires and all of it had gotten him to a bathroom floor in a club.  And than the real Kanye stood up...watch what he does...and enjoy it.

Tauba Auerbach YUMMY

She is a girl from the Bay, not the Town but San Francisco.  Went to Stanford and now makes this really rad art.  I appreciate her use of color and space.  How she represents her lights and her darks.  Peep the last photo 'Truth Is...' she forms a square with the letters, which are colorful but each color is repeated once.  Order in the middle of the space of black outlined in colored letters. iLikes

Sometimes you experience something that makes you think, "I want this to go in the time capsule" I found one of those last week.  I'm an artist that is a fan of the art, and yes even if you were not looking I would still be doing this anyway.  I always assumed that is how most artist feel.  Such is the case for 2.0 and his new art piece Turn Off The TV.  My sentiments exactly, turn that sh@t off!!! Go to his blog to hear the wonderful details http://georgetwopointoh.wordpress.com/totv/

DR BONNER'S YUMMY

I love when you have something that you can use for a variety of different things.  I have used this soap for everything except cooking.  I usually use it to bath but I've washed clothes, my hair, brushed teeth, cleaned the bathroom all with Dr. Bonner's.  I love it, its great and the smile factor about this product is all the text printed on the bottle.  A collection of poems, stories, proverbs and verses.

YOUNG B EMCEE/ IBN BATTUTA YUMMY

So I woke up early this morning and was thinking about all the interesting places I had been and where the journey all started.  Ibn Battuta was probably the driving force in my exploration appetite.  His writings intrigued me so much that I tried to recreate his steps.  I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was the first time I went to Tangier.  On the fairy ride from Spain I kept telling everyone that I was going to Ibn Battuta's home, clearly I was beyond thrilled.  And Tangier lived up to my expectations!

Fast forward to college fast forward to LA my good friend is a musician, I didn't even know that. YoungBEmcee reminds of Ibn Battuta, don't ask me why, he just does Jay Electronica does too but that's a separate post.  But his music is to be checked for, I was pleasantly surprised.  Check him here and here .

MJP IS STILL YUMMY IN DUBAI

So the next few post will be about some of the places I have travelled to and the stories I've gathered.  I never wanted to take pictures when I travelled because I always know when I will be back to a place.  Then my passport was stolen in Spain on a trip and I started to treasure the few pics I'd taken from time to time.  I have been to a lot of countries all over the globe. This picture was taken from my apartment at the Grosvenor House in Dubai.  My place was pretty high up so I had a great view. I just remember thinking on the drive from the airport to my apartment that their was so much construction everywhere.  Dubai (along with a few other middle eastern countries) is one of the few places where you can buy a Bentley in the airport.  The night life is interesting, I remember going out to a night club and men and women did not dance together, I almost thought it was a gay club until a friend told me that men and women are not allowed to dance together in public. Yes their are many prostitutes in Arabic countries and they are not veiled down.  My theory on traveling is "when in Rome do as the Romans" even though it was hot, as a women you still have to dress modestly and I did...until I was at the private beaches or rooftops, than I could wear a regular bathing suit and not be scolded.  When I was their I met all kinds of rich Americans doing investment deals and a few famous names too.  It only takes a day to tan, you can ride camels on the beach, I listened to a lot of Jamiroquai lying by the pool, there are sand dunes that you can ride dirt bikes on and the women are very friendly to each other.
